FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Firefighters who have died in the line of duty will be remembered during a service next week in Frankfort.

The service Wednesday will include a wreath laying at the Fallen Firefighter Memorial at Juniper Hills Park. A motorcycle tribute called the Red Helmets Courage Ride will begin at Frankfort Fire and EMS Station #3 before the 11 a.m. EDT service.

The Fallen Firefighter Memorial was erected Oct. 11, 1999, and includes more than 200 names of firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

Kentucky Fire Commission Executive Director Ronnie Day says it's important to remember the firefighters who have died.

The memorial is the work of the commission, the Kentucky Firefighters Association, the Kentucky Professional Firefighters Association of Fire Chiefs and Frankfort Fire and EMS.
