HINDMAN, Ky. (AP) — A body found in Knott County has been identified as that of a missing woman and detectives were investigating the death as a homicide.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Jody Sims says detectives were trying to determine who killed 34-year-old Christina Barnett of Sitka. Barnett's remains were found Sept. 25 in Knott County just east of Hindman.
Sims says family members reported Barnett missing on Sept. 19. Searchers found the body six days later and her identity was confirmed Wednesday.
Sims did not say why investigators classified the death as a homicide.
