Money Raised For Area Bike Trails During Low Hollow Fest

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Bikers and runners alike were able to enjoy the Low Hollow Trail Fest at Weldon Peete Park in Bowling Green Saturday.

The races kicked off at 8:00 a.m. with a 5K run.

After that people participated in several mountain trail bike races.

This was the second year for the fest.

Organizers hoped to raise $4,000 toward the Southwest Kentucky Mountain Bike Association.

"We build trails and also steward trails. The trails in our group are here (Low Hollow Trail), also up at Mammoth Cave -- this trail's bigger brother -- Big Hollow Trail, and out at Nolin Lake State Park is the Briar Creek Trail, and Owensboro is Ben Hoss Park. So we're responsible for building those and the upkeep of those," said Chip Winger, the chair for Southwest KyMBA

If you missed the fun at the fest, the association has trail ride meet-ups weekly.

The next one is 6:00 p.m. Monday at the park.
