The Butler County High School gym was a gathering place Sunday. It was a place where those affected by breast cancer came together to share memories. Audrey Porter is a senior at Butler County High School and she put this together after her mother overcame the disease.

"I can just remember as she was talking about the steps she went through. I can remember my mom going through those, and my grandmother both. It just brings back those memories, although it was two years ago, it seems like it was yesterday." said Porter.

"She fought right along with her mother, when her mother was going through breast cancer. That made a big impression on her. I'm just so glad she shares that enthusiasm with everybody." added Breast Cancer survivor Becky Hankins.

For Porter, the idea for the event was simple."I just knew someone should, and i just thought i could. With the community's help i guess i kinda did."

Many were recognized for surviving their battle with cancer while others were remembered. The event was full of emotion but those involved say it was a blessing to see the community turn out for support.

"Everyday is rewarding. I'm so thankful, so thankful to see all the survivors here today. That's part of why I love doing this. Get to meet all these people and hear all these stories of how they survived. It just makes all of it worth it." said Porter.

"that just makes you feel good that people are there supporting you. In Butler County, we do have people that are big supporters of us and are caring and want to help." said Hankins. And that support is what will allow those lost to be remembered forever.
