A woman and her son have been charged in central Kentucky in connection with the fatal shooting 3 1/2 months ago of a gate company employee while he was working.

Kentucky State Police say that makes a total of five people arrested so far in the Sept. 26 death of Wendall "Gleason" Pyles. More arrests are expected.

Police said 25-year-old Derek Salyers and 58-year-old Ruth A. Salyers were arrested Wednesday at the Taylor County Jail on charges of tampering with physical evidence and hindering prosecution.

In October, police arrested William "Bobby" R. Rigdon on a murder charge and 59-year-old David Salyers of Elk Horn on a charge of complicity to commit murder. Last month, 53-year-old Anthony L. Byrd of Dunnville in Casey County was charged with facilitation to commit murder and hindering prosecution.

Police say Pyles was shot and killed while working at Tarter Gate Co. in Dunnville.
