Northern Kentucky University's president says he has fired the school's athletic director following an investigation into possible misconduct.
NKU President Geoffrey Mearns says athletic director Scott Eaton was let go for failing to comply with the university's ethical principles and code of conduct. Mearns did not specify the alleged misconduct in a letter dated Monday that was sent to Terry Mann, chairman of the school's Board of Regents.
Mearns says the information he received about Eaton required a "swift and decisive response." Mearns, who suspended Eaton last week, says the investigation is continuing.
He has appointed campus vice president Gerard St. Amand to serve as acting athletic director while the school conducts a national search for a new AD.
