FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund has endorsed U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell in the May 20 Republican primary.
In a news release, NRA fund chairman Chris Cox called McConnell a true champion of the Second Amendment and noted McConnell has received an "A+" rating from the NRA.
McConnell is scheduled to appear with NRA representatives at a news conference in Louisville on Saturday to kick off the start of turkey season.
The Gun Owners of America has endorsed GOP primary challenger Matt Bevin. Likely Democratic Senate nominee Alison Lundergan Grimes has invited McConnell to join her at a shooting range. McConnell did not respond to her request.
