NRC Attorney Dies in Kentucky

By Associated Press |

Authorities say a 27-year-old woman who died after being struck by a Lexington fire truck was an attorney with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission who was in town for a running competition.

Police say Lauren Woodall Roady of Washington, D.C., died shortly after being struck Saturday night near Triangle Park.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that Roady joined the legal staff at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 2011 after graduating from New York University Law School. She was married earlier this year.

The Fayette County coroner's office says Roady died of multiple blunt force trauma.

Roady came to Lexington to run in the USA Track & Field Club Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Mayor Jim Gray says full details regarding her death might not be available until early next year.
