Bowling Green is known for automobiles, specifically the Corvette.

Thursday the National Association Of Manufacturers took time to honor those who have helped Bowling Green live up to its name.

Congressman Brett Guthrie was awarded for legislative excellence after his strong support of the auto industry in Washington.

Guthrie says the industry has been a part of his family for generations.

"I grew up and my dad worked in the automobile industry so I have always loved the automobile industry and what it does. I understand the number of jobs it creates. Like I said if you go to the Corvette Plant you've got people of all skill levels and all education levels," says Congressman Guthrie.

Guthrie says his effort remains on having a better economic environment for all industries.

His top priority to meet that goal is to reform the tax code.
