Another project has been added to the list of new developments in Downtown Bowling Green.

Construction for apartments on College St. is expected to start in the coming months.

The block on College St next to SKyPAC is expected to become the new downtown hot spot, according to developers.

Not only can you eat, drink and work in this area, come February, construction will start on a new place for you to live here too.

"We have jobs coming downtown, we have new development and retail, but the missing piece is additional people living here, and so this is the first step in many things that we plan on having go on," Doug Gorman, Chairman of the Downtown Redevelopment Authority, says.

"With the location to downtown, to the ballpark, to the performing arts center, its great walking distance to everywhere. They and go around to everywhere close, but it also stays away from the traffic of Scottsville Rd. and that area," Property Manager, Mike Orsinelli, says.

The new apartments will wrap around the College St. parking garage across from the Chamber of Commerce, giving residents direct access to parking.

There will be about 60 units that will range from 600 to 1,100 square feet.

"We are going to do something unique and different, more high end granite counter tops, high finishes, good finishes on the cabinets and that nature," Orsinelli says.

The developer is the same company that finished renovating the old Bowling Green Junior High School back in July.

"They developed The Columns development and now they're coming here to do this. A great group of people and a great vision for Bowling Green," says Gorman.

Andover Management Group plans to make downtown easy access for residents, at the same time downtown redevelopment officials say the apartments will bring more business to downtown.

"People living down here makes all of the difference in the world about the success of downtown," Gorman says.

The apartments are expected to be finished by September of next year.

Rent for these apartments is expected to range between $800 and $1,100 per month.
