FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) — The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment at Fort Campbell has opened a new chapter with a new patch for the sleeves of soldiers.

Regiment Commander Col. John R. Evans says the new patch reflects the aviation special force identity of the regiment known at the "Night Stalkers."

The patch with Fairbairn-Sykes double-edged fighting knife and upswept red wings form a spearhead reminiscent of the 1st Special Service Force and symbolizes the unit's role as the aviation element of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.

With the changing of the patch, the 160th Special Operations Unit officially joins the U.S. Special Operations Regiment Command team. The soldiers will continue to wear their regiment crest.
