"No True Bill" Returned on Larue Co. Deputy-Involved Shooting

KSP says the Grand Jury returned with a “No True Bill” decision, which means that there was not sufficient evidence to bring forth criminal charges.

On Monday, Kentucky State Police say the Larue County Grand Jury met to discuss the Larue County Sheriff’s Deputy involved shooting that occurred on December 7th, 2012.

Sgt. Kevin Johnson, KSP Post 4 Detective Sergeant, presented KSP’s investigation into the shooting involving Deputy James E. Williamson and suspect, Thomas E. Ferguson to the Larue County residents.

KSP says the Grand Jury returned with a “No True Bill” decision, which means that there was not sufficient evidence to bring forth criminal charges.

Therefore, Dpty. Williamson has been cleared of any criminal charges.

As of the date of this release, this investigation remains open.



ORIGINAL STORY: December 8, 2012
On Friday, December 7, 2012 at approximately 9:24 p.m. Larue County Dispatch received a call of a reckless driver.

A Larue County Deputy responded and located the vehicle in question.

The Deputy observed the vehicle driving recklessly and he attempted to initiate a traffic stop by engaging his emergency equipment.

KSP says the suspect ignored the Deputy’s signals to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

The pursuit continued on KY 1192 near the 5 mile post when the suspect’s vehicle spun out and came to rest facing the Deputy.

KSP says as he approached the vehicle the suspect accelerated toward the him.

The Deputy fired shots into the vehicle striking the suspect in the head. The vehicle then exited the roadway and into a ditch.

Larue County EMS transported the suspect to Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was later transported to the University of Louisville Hospital, where he later died.
