FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- The state wants to honor individuals, businesses and organizations for inspiring others to protect Kentucky's environment and is asking for nominations.
The Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection awards are given to recognize and encourage environmental stewardship. The Division of Compliance Assistance coordinates the awards, which are in their fourth year.
The KY EXCEL program recognizes efforts to improve and protect the environment above and beyond state requirements and is open to individuals, organizations, communities and businesses.
Nominations are being accepted until close of business July 31. Winners will be notified by early September and will be invited to the awards presentation in mid-September.
