Authorities say a man suspected of firing multiple shots and causing a lockdown at New Jersey's largest shopping mall has been found dead of a self-inflicted wound.
Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says the body of 20-year-old Richard Shoop of Teaneck was found in a back area of the Garden State Plaza mall in Paramus early Tuesday. He says Shoop killed himself with the same weapon he used at the mall and that a note has been found.
There were no other injuries.
Police received reports of man who fired multiple shots shortly before the mall's 9:30 p.m. closing time on Monday, sending customers and employees rushing hysterically for the exits and hiding places.
The mall, which has more than 270 stores, is located in Bergen County, about 15 miles northwest of Manhattan.

The shooter's body was discovered at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday in a back area of the Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall.

A Bergen County official says a search is under way inside a northern New Jersey mall for a suspect who fired multiple shots just before closing time.
Bergen County spokeswoman Jeanne Baratta tells The Associated Press that authorities believe the suspected shooter is still in the Garden State Plaza Mall early Tuesday. She says SWAT teams are concentrating their search in the northeast corner of the 2.2-million-square-foot mall, near a Nordstrom store.
Paramus Mayor Rich LaBarbiera says the mall remains in lockdown.
Baratta says reports of shots being fired came in shortly before Monday night's 9:30 p.m. closing time at the mall, one of New Jersey's largest and most popular.
A Bergen County official says multiple shots have been fired inside a mall in northern New Jersey and there are no reports of fatalities or injuries.
Bergen County spokeswoman Jeanne Baratta tells The Associated Press that shortly after 9 p.m. a call went out that shots had been fired at the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus.
Baratta says one shell casing has been found. She says SWAT teams and police with K-9 units are working their way moving through the mall. She says authorities are working to evacuate anyone who is still in the mall.
She said that as of 11:30 p.m., authorities believe people are still in the mall.
