Ohio County Adds 27 More Charges to Double Murder Suspect


Authorities say Tony Berkley was chasing his daughter and Goodman down highway 878 on November 15, 2012, when the couple's car went off the road and overturned into a pond, drowning both of them.

HARTFORD, Ky. (WBKO) -- The Ohio County Sheriff's Department has added 27 more charges to a suspect in a double murder.

Tony Berkley, 54, is already in jail on charges of murdering his daughter, Melissa Jane Berkley, and her boyfriend, Jerry G. Goodman, Jr. in November, 2012.

Authorities say Tony Berkley was chasing his daughter and Goodman down highway 878 on November 15, 2012, when the couple's car went off the road and overturned into a pond, drowning both of them.

Tuesday, the Ohio County Sheriff announced 27 new charges against Tony Berkley, including 1st degree rape, 1st degree sodomy, incest, 10 counts of 1st degree illegal sex acts with a minor, and 11 counts of 1st degree sexual abuse.

Added to Berkley's previous sexual charges in this case, plus the double murder, the total number of charges against Berkley now stands at 38. He remains in the Ohio County Detention Center.
