BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- One person is dead after an overnight accident on I-65.

Kentucky State Police say they received a call about a white SUV going the wrong way in the northbound lane of the interstate shortly after 12:30 Thursday morning.

A couple minutes later, police say that SUV, driven by 31 year old Richard Gott of Bowling Green, hit an oncoming semi-truck, driven by 36 year old Gary Moody of Georgia, at mile marker 27 -- right before Exit 28 in Bowling Green.

"The operator of the SUV died as a result of the collision. The investigation is still ongoing and we hope to have more details later on this afternoon," said Tpr. Jonathan Biven with Kentucky State Police.

Police say, at this time, they don't know how long or why the Gott was going the wrong way.

We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
