This week, area families, businesses, and churches worked together to bring Christmas to suffering children around the world.
This was part of Operation Christmas Child.
The program took place at Forest Park Baptist Church in Bowling Green, and is a part of larger program involving millions of people in the U.S., filling shoe boxes with gifts for children.
Local coordinators say they will be getting boxes from relay sites in nearby counties today and look forward to the turnout.
"They will bring all their boxes this afternoon, and we expect thousands to come in this afternoon, so we'll be busy all day," said Operation Christmas Child Bowling Green Collection Coordinator.
Harper says she expects the local program to send out over 17,000 boxes this year.
