Orchestra Kentucky is gearing up for another performance of Motown Madness this weekend.
"It's great for us an orchestra because the original recordings used orchestra, so it makes the whole package really come together in a high energy show," said Orchestra Kentucky Music Director Jeff Reed.
Vocalist Billy DuVall Jr. is always excited for the show.
"Well Motown music is me. It's in my spirit. I grew up singing Motown, and some of the best singers ever, good music, wonderful lyrics. It's music that's good for everybody, everybody enjoys Motown music. It lifts your spirit, just makes you feel good," said DuVall.
The show is Friday and Saturday at 8 pm in Van Meter Hall on WKU's campus.
"You know we associate music with great times in our lives, and this music was a really a big part of a lot of the audience member's younger days. So, it's fun to watch them relive their youth and enjoy the music," said Reed.
Orchestra Kentucky recently found out they will going back for the third time to a very large festival in Charleston, South Carolina, something that's never happened before.
"I understand we're the first to go back three consecutive years. So, we're excited about going back this year in June. Last year, about 15 thousand people showed up sat out on the grass, we sung under the tent. It was wonderful, we're excited about it," said DuVall.
Organizer of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, Ellen Moryl said they think very highly of the group and their work.
She also said at this years festival, they will be adding a dance floor for people to dance and enjoy the music.
Soon the rhythm of Motown will fill the auditorium.
