Outdoor Alert Systems Cut Back

The Warren County Jail, Public Works, and Emergency Management presented the way they plan to handle the cuts.

Each group also explained how their decision would affect the residents they serve.

In many cases the decisions may hinder public safety.

"In our arena of emergency services, we measure our successes in seconds and minutes. If you reduce those minutes or extend those minutes for response, unfortunately there could be statistics that come out of these budget cuts," said Ronnie Pearson of Warren County Emergency Management.

55 percent of Warren County is currently covered by the outdoor alert system in place.

Three more "cows" sirens were scheduled to be put up this year but now it looks like only one will go up, the one WKU is paying for.
