OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) — A coroner says a worker helping crews prepare to paint the Glover H. Cary Bridge in Owensboro has died.
Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office says Nett Gonzales, 35, from Houston, Texas died Monday evening after being taken to a hospital.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd told the Messenger-Inquirer that other workers found Gonzales unconscious and tangled in safety netting.
Todd said the man had burns on his hands, which is an indication he might have been shocked by a power line.
The Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and said Gonzales died from electrocution.
Both the contractor and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet are investigating to determine what happened.
