WARREN COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) -- For the 28th straight year, teams flocked to the golf course in Bowling Green to help send kids to the Kentucky Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranch.
17 teams of four made their way out to Olde Stone Monday morning to hit the fairways as part of the Scotty's-Peanuts-WBKO Golf Classic.
All the money raised at the event goes toward helping young people in the area visit the ranch free of charge.
"A young man the other day came up to me and said Sheriff, I went when I was so and so age. We've sent over 1400 kids to the ranch over them years," commented Sheriff Jerry "Peanuts" Gaines."
"That's the most important thing. To take care of those kids and to give something back to our community and surrounding counties," added Olde Stone CEO, James Scott.
Sheriff Gaines said the event is the sole reason some kids in the surrounding counties get to attend the Sheriff's Ranch each year.
