BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Colder weather than usual has hit the area early in 2014. That means road crews in Warren County have been on high alert. The road department says it's used about 1/4 of the salt it's had in stock so far. Which is more than what's normally been used up this time of year. Despite that extra use, officials said they're in good shape.
"We've got enough salt that we could have a pretty bad storm and be in good shape. We've got probably 500 tons on standby we could get if we need it," said Warren County Roads Supervisor, Jerry Young.
The road department adds that weather could've been a lot worse than what they've seen so far. At this point they feel lucky to be at the good place they're in.
