State police say injuries not consistent with a house fire were found on a mother and daughter who died in a blaze in eastern Kentucky over the weekend.
Trooper Tony Watts said the investigation into what killed 64-year-old Sandra K. Melton and 35-year-old Suzy Rebecca Melton, both of the Scuddy community in Perry County, is ongoing after the medical examiner's findings Wednesday.
Watts says the injuries discovered during autopsies could not initially be attributed only to a house fire.
Watts could not say what the other injuries were. Watts says investigators preliminarily believe a skillet on a cook stove started the fire near Hazard at about 6 a.m. Sunday.
Troopers returned to the home Tuesday. Watts had no timeline for when the investigation would be complete.
