HAZARD, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of an inmate after a fight with jail guards at an eastern Kentucky jail.
WKYT-TV in Lexington reported that the fight happened at about 7 a.m. Tuesday at the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard. Police say 54-year-old Larry Trent was restrained and later found unresponsive and taken to a Hazard Hospital, where he died.
Police say the body was taken to the medical examiner's office in Frankfort for an autopsy.
There is no word on what started the altercation.
What charges Trent was being held on was unclear Wednesday.
