UPDATE: Police Search for Suspect in Franklin Bank Robbery

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-30s, about 5'10" to 6'0" tall, and weighing 200-220 pounds.

UPDATED 6:15PM -- One day after a robbery at U.S. bank in Franklin, it's not only tellers that are greeting people. There is now a security guard one step inside the door watching over everything. Police have gotten plenty of tips from the surrounding area. Those tips are helping them narrow their leads.

"The suspect has some blotchy skin with a little bit of discoloration. Some light faded out spots. He held his lips in a peculiar manner, so that's something we're looking out for too," said Detective Mike Jones.

Police said they've found additional evidence outside of the bank as well. One piece of evidence that could be key in the case is the suspect's hat. They know the first word reads "John", but they're having trouble deciphering the second word.

People who work and live in Franklin said the news surprises them and admittedly are a little on edge.

"Being a small town like this makes me feel as if I can't go about my daily life doing as I please," commented U.S. Bank customer, Joshua Caldwell.

Police said as a town that sits on the interstate, they sometimes have to look for the road for answers. Especially regarding where the suspect came from or where he might have gone.

"If you're living along the interstate like in Bowling Green or any other town that's located on I-65, you've always got different traffic coming in and out of town. That is something to consider but I don't know if it's relevant in this case," added Detective Jones.

Franklin Police said U.S. Bank is offering up to $10,000 in reward money for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
