LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky State Police say a commercial vehicle enforcement officer has shot an armed robbery suspect during a stop on Interstate 65.
A statement from police says officers were on the lookout for the suspect's vehicle after the Elizabethtown post received calls early Sunday about an armed robbery at the Pilot truck stop in Sonora.
The KSP officer spotted the vehicle around 2 a.m. and pulled it over. The statement says the suspect, 20-year-old Aaron Hart of Hodgenville, ignored commands to show his hands and exit the vehicle. Police say the officer fired one shot after he saw Hart grab a gun.
Hart suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police say he is charged with robbery, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, and burglary.
The officer is on leave pending a routine investigation.
