Police Think Man Made Bomb Threat To Avoid Court

DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Police say they think a Boyle County man called in a false bomb threat on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in order to avoid a court appearance.

If so, Sheriff Marty Elliott says 46-year old Monty Bryant Jr. chose "a bad day for a bad choice."

Elliott told the Advocate-Messenger (http://bit.ly/QItcHj) that Bryant was scheduled in court Tuesday on misdemeanor charges, but now is facing a felony charge of terroristic threatening.

He said the Boyle County Courthouse was evacuated after the threat, and several cases, and well as a Fiscal Court meeting, had to be postponed.

Bryant is being held in the Boyle County Detention Center and will likely be arraigned next week. Jail records don't indicate whether he has an attorney.
