LONDON, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky State Police are warning the public to beware of text messages informing bank customers that their credit or debit cards have been deactivated.
Post 11 in London says it has received a report of such an attempt and says it's a scam.
The bank customer is asked to give the 16-digit card number when calling the number in the text message.
Police say people should never give personal information over the phone unless they have called to ask for specific services. And the post says if suspicious activity occurs, report it to the bank.
