Prestonsburg Expands Smoke-Free Zones

By AP |

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. -- Prestonsburg officials have expanded the city's no-smoking policy, some four years after it went into effect.

Mayor Jerry Fannin says people were still smoking in city parks and other places near children. The city council has now revised the policy.

Smokers can't legally light up on sidewalks, in parks and recreation areas or in government office parking lots. It is also a violation to smoke within 50 feet of the entrance to a public building or in city-owned vehicles.

Violators can be fined.
