Bowling Green and Warren County celebrated teachers today.
At city hall this afternoon, they made the official proclamation that this week will be Retired Teachers Week. City officials say it's just one way to recognize teachers for their service to the community.
"It was a way for us to recognize them for all their hard work in education, and all of the youth they've educated throughout the years," said Bowling Green City Commissioner Melinda Hill.
Hill says there are 13 hundred retired teachers in the community.
Those teachers are responsible for educating thousands of children.
the city encourages everyone to thank a teacher this week.
We'll have more on the proclamation on WBKO at 5.
