After months of construction a heavily traveled street in Bowling Green is now an easier drive.
A ribbon cutting ceremony held on Monday officially marked the opening of the new Smallhouse / Cave Mill Road intersection.
The reconstruction was to improve traffic flow in the area.
Although at times work caused minor issues for drivers officials say the project was long overdue.
"People have had to wait over and over again through cycles of lights to try and get out. I came through here last Friday night in the midst of the rush hour traffic. No waiting at all, went right up to the light, the light turned and we moved on through," says Mayor Bruce Wilkerson.
The project was a joint effort between the city, county and a private developer who built the new intersection.
