BOWLING GREEN, Ky, — Motorists will notice different and significant impacts when traveling near the Bowling Green roundabout project area at the intersection of U.S. 31-W, Loving Way and University Boulevard beginning Monday, May 19.
Motorists can expect an increase in construction vehicle traffic on and off the road. Also some night work will be taking place. The biggest impacts and changes are the closures and detour listed below.
· Beginning early Monday (May 19) morning the access to Chestnut Street to and from U.S. 31-W (Nashville Road) will be closed for an extended period of time. Detour signs will be in place and the directions with map are listed below. (Scroll down for map)
o U.S. 31-W South Travelers
§ Motorists traveling south needing to detour Chestnut Street should proceed to the intersection just passed Chestnut Street and take a right onto University Boulevard. Then proceed to the first traffic signal and take a right onto Normal Street. Then proceed to the first traffic signal and take a right onto Regents Avenue. Regents Avenue runs into Chestnut Street.
o U.S. 31-W North Travelers
§ Motorists traveling north of the project intersection needing to detour Chestnut Street should proceed north to the traffic signal at Cabell Drive. Then take a left onto Cabell Drive, then a left onto Ogden Avenue. Motorists should follow Ogden Avenue until it runs into Chestnut Street.
· Will reopen one day next week.
· Will close for an extended period of time when Oaklawn Way reopens.
