It's a piece of technology that has revolutionized the auto industry. Now, A FANUC certified robotic training center has come to Bowling Green.

A facility that is a perfect fit for a Corvette filled city.

"What that enables us to do from the Bowling Green Assembly point of view is to send our skilled trades workers over here and learn how to program and repair and rehab these robots. We have 96 of these robots installed in our body shop in the Bowling Green Assembly Plant," says Plant Manager Dave Tatman.

A partnership between Southcentral Kentucky Community & Technical College and the Bowling Green Assembly Plant allows workers to train locally.

The benefits from the robotic equipment reach far beyond automotive.

"Over 22,500 robots were sold in the America's alone last year in 2012. That's up probably 50% from 4 years ago so growing at an exponential rate," says FANUC Regional Sales Manager, Paul Aiello.

Students also get a chance to train in one of the fastest growing fields. The state of the art, futuristic looking robots has school administration excited for students who will graduate career ready.

"It will allow us to use this equipment in preparing people very well. It will just blow you away really to see what all the capabilities are," says SKYCTC President Dr. Nathan Hodges.

"It's things that I certainly don't know how to do, but I will tell you our graduates will and the folks that go through our training they will know how to maintain these, program them, and know how to keep them moving," says Dr. Phillip Neal.

Administration says it puts the college above the rest being the only certified FANUC training site in Kentucky.

Classes at the new facility begin March 4.
