The scenic, quiet, sights and sounds of nature Saturday night were replaced with a rocking concert in the cave. It was all part of the Lost River Cave Southern Summer Music Festival. Event organizers say this is one day that everyone looks forward to.

"Our fundraiser is one of the few times during the year that the public is invited to party in the cave like they did in the nightclub of the 30s and 40s," says Executive Director Rho Lansden.

But it's not just a party, all the money raised goes towards building a new state of the art outdoor classroom.

"The outdoor classroom will be the first of its kind in South Central Kentucky. And we think it will be a great asset to the community. Getting children used to playing outdoors again. We have kinda lost the knack of running and playing outside," says Lansden.

Sarah Howlett, a school teacher, traveled from Hardin County and is glad to help a great cause and take in nature’s beauty.

"Well I am a teacher so that sounds very good to me. It’s very beautiful here so I am glad it's going to a good cause," says Howlett.

That beauty, picture us scenery, and uniqueness of the festival caught the attention of Joan Bowen who drove 60 miles to visit the cave.

"My daughter brought her husband down here last summer and when she came home she said mom its awesome you gotta go. But she only went for the boat tours and we just happened this weekend to fall into this," says Bowen.

Organizers say the festival was a big success with close to 500 people expected to party the night away.
