Russell County deputy sheriff Nick Bertram (26) is being held in the Russell county jail after a suspected burglary investigation led detectives to his home.
"The Columbia post received a call regarding a burglary at 144 Lakeway Drive in Russell County. It was confirmed at that point through the investigation and speaking to the complaintant, that a burglary had occurred and also evidence from the Russell County Sheriff's Department was also located there." said Kentucky State Trooper Jonathan Biven.
Police say they also discovered what appeared to be hazardous waste materials ... A one step meth lab and a large amount of drug paraphernalia at Bertram's residence .
Bertram is charged with burglary, official misconduct, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. WBKO tried to get in touch with the Russell County Sheriff's Department multiple times but got no answer.
