Salvation Army Full Of Volunteers On Day Of Caring

Updated: Wed 6:41 PM, Jul 25, 2012

The southern heat didn't slow down volunteers from U.S. Bank who were hard at work landscaping around the Salvation Army. Employees from the bank were out across the area for what they say is a good cause.

"We think that everyone should give back to the community, individual corporations alike, so we are pleased to have over 50 of our US Bank colleagues out with us today working on five different projects," says Craig Browning from US Bank.

While it was hard work outside volunteers from the Warren County Public Schools were working hard inside cleaning and tidying up the dorms. Volunteering has given them a new perspective.

"It's been a real eye opener for a lot of our employees because we work so much with children and this is such a totally different realm of what we are used to working with. It's been great we got to do a tour of the facility," says Joanie Hendricks, the Public Relations Corrinator for Warren County Public Schools.

There may be some hard labor at times but volunteers say the Day of Caring is a not only good for the community but also good for them.

"This is a great team builder, I know people probably don't see it for that for what it is in the beginning but when you are out here and doing things with your hands and working together and you are seeing progress and the impact you make it is a great thing to do as a team," says Hendricks.

Another team of familiar faces from WBKO were also volunteering, serving a Thanksgiving style lunch to guests

Employees from the GM Corvette Plant were also at the Salvation Army during the Day of Caring putting a fresh coat of paint in some of the rooms.
