LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Two high school students in Lexington and a Catholic school are at odds over whether a same-sex couple should have been allowed to go to the prom together.

Lexington Catholic High School senior Hope Decker and sophomore Tiffany Wright had already gotten their dresses for the dance, but were told Friday afternoon by school administrators that they couldn't attend. Wright told the Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/KkXheA ) that school administrators cited the Catholic Church's stance on same-sex relationships.

Lexington Catholic president Steve Angelucci said the school's policies and procedures reflect the church's teachings on the issue.

After being turned away, the teens held their own prom in the school parking lot, using car stereos for music.
