HODGENVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- The LaRue County School Board has declined to take action against the school superintendent, who is accused of driving drunk in a school vehicle.
WLKY-TV reports board chairman Michael Hornback said at a Tuesday meeting that the panel cannot take any action until the case is resolved in court.
Sam Sanders was arrested on Saturday morning. Police said he smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and failed a sobriety test. He refused to take a breath test.
Several community members attending the board meeting wanted immediate action taken against Sanders.
Joe Dohn said he has two children and one grandchild enrolled in LaRue County Schools. He said Sanders is supposed to set an example for the children.
Both Sanders and his attorney declined the station's request for comment.
