The Barren County Sheriff's Department says emergency personnel responded to a commercial vehicle accident on the Louie B. Nunn parkway near mile marker 18 east of Glasgow around 1:23 a.m. Tuesday.
Jeffrey G. Norris, 48, of Burkesville, was operating a 1999 Peterbuilt semi eastbound on the parkway. Deputies say it appears he lost control and traveled into the median, causing the semi to turn on its side, spilling a large amount of feed onto the roadway.
Norris was taken by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Services to T.J. Samson Community Hospital, where he was treated and released. He arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs first offense (aggravated).
The parkway was closed for several hours while emergency crews worked to clean up the spill.
Deputy Mike Houchens investigated the accident, assisted by Deputies Greg Kinslow and Kevin Wilson. Members of the East Barren Volunteer Fire Department and Barren County Emergency Management also responded to the scene.
