Sen. Paul Announces the Army Corps of Engineers Does Not Plan to Build Barrier Walls in Front of Kentucky Dams

By  |

According to Sen. Rand Paul, the Army Corps of Engineers has announced a barrier wall will not go up in front of several area dams.

The $2.6 million proposal would have blocked tail-water fishing access near several Cumberland River dams in Kentucky.

In April, Senators Paul, Mitch McConnell, and Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, along with Congressman Ed Whitfield spoke against the barriers at Lake Barkley Dam.

Sen. Paul says nearly 300 fisherman showed up.

"I think we've actually won a small battle in there. The Corps is backing down on this, and no longer say they are going to put up barriers, but they are still restricting some of the fishing so the fight goes on," he says.

Sen. Paul says they will still try and pass legislation to stop the fishing restriction.
