Severe Weather Snaps Tree, Kills Man

Updated: Fri 7:06 PM, Aug 17, 2012

A Georgia man, who recently bought a house in Logan County, was killed by the wrath of the last night's severe weather.

Billy Duck was outside grilling on his deck as the storm started.

When the wind picked up, a tree branch snapped, striking him on the deck.

His wife was inside, and heard the sound.

"They had just got done doing some grilling outside. She had gone inside to get her something to drink. And when she came back outside... She heard a big gust of wind... When she came back outside... She found her husband," says Logan County Sheriff Wallace Whittaker

An EMS team performed CPR on the way to the hospital, but Duck was pronounced dead once they arrived.

This is the second weather-related death in Logan County in three years.

The last time, a woman was struck by lightening.
