Police say a car driving with bullet holes in it led to a dangerous situation at an unexpected place.

When police pulled the car over, they were told about shots being fired at the Veterans of Foreign War Post on Highway 185 early Sunday morning.

The VFW was being rented out for a post homecoming party, and police believe about 500 people were there.

Witnesses tell police shots broke out between two men

"We do know that they began shooting in the parking lot and they were shooting at each other. They then ran down to the field, which is right below the VFW and began shooting at each other," Bowling Green Police Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward says

Police say people fled when the gun fight broke out.
