Only 4 days until it's time to head to the polls and cast your ballots!

But early voting is already underway in the battleground states.

Should those in Kentucky also have the chance to head to the polls early?

With Election Day right around the corner Secretary of State, Alison Lundergan Grimes is expecting a record number of voters to cast ballots.

"We are predicting based on the numbers that were seeing enthusiasm across Kentucky and a turnout of approximately 62 to 64%,"says Secretary of State, Alison Lundergan Grimes.

Nearly 73,000 people have already cast absentee ballots in the Commonwealth.

"Kentucky does not have open early voting you can only vote early for instance if your a member of the military, if your going to be out of town on election day due to work,"says Grimes.

With as many as 40% of the votes for the election being cast ahead of time some are question the importance of early voting in Kentucky.

"The whole important thing for democracy is to have more people participate, the more that participate the stronger our democracy so why not have early voters,"Anna Sue Heller.

"My grandpa he's 80 years old and it's hard for him to drive and get out so it would be really good if he could vote early and not just have to vote on election day,"says Kimberly Zimmerman.

While early voting has become increasingly popular especially in battleground states such as Florida, there are some who just don't trust it.

"I think there is just greater probability of maybe some wrongdoings or problems with having it at different times,"says Judy Wilcutt.

But Grimes hopes in the future residents of Kentucky can cast their ballots early.

"I'm supportive of efforts to open our polls to make sure we don't have barriers to our ballot box and individuals regardless of whether they have an excuse can make sure to have their voice heard, and hopefully we may see some changes,"says Grimes.

Polls will be open November 6Th from 6a.m to 6p.m.
