Spirits At The Depot Planning Underway

BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) -- Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Kentucky (BBBSKY) officially kicked off its’ Spirits at the Depot fundraiser with a Chamber Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11am at the Historic L&N Depot Railpark and Train Museum located at 401 Kentucky Street, Bowling Green.
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is a kick-off to the 13th Annual fundraiser, but is also a chance to explain some of the exciting changes and additions to this year’s event. First, as the name now indicates Spirits at the Depot will be held at the Historic L&N Depot. The event is also changing the day of the week and will now be on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 6-9pm. The event will be keeping the great traditions of food samplings from over a dozen local restaurants, non-alcoholic beverages/wine/beer and new this year 4 signature liquor drinks, there will be live music from Poison Karma and as always an extensive silent auction.
The agency will be thanking the event’s longtime presenting sponsor English Lucas Priest & Owsley. Without their generous support and the support of all the sponsors and patrons this event would not be the success that it always is.
There are many ways for individuals and business to get involved and support this event. Become a Caboose, Passenger Car or Locomotive Sponsor (all 3 levels sponsorship levels do include event tickets), become a silent auction donor or purchase individual tickets for $50 each. Each ticket is all-inclusive which includes the food, drinks and music. This event is a great way to support an outstanding cause all while having a fun date night or just by hanging out with friends or co-workers.
The purpose of Big Brothers Big Sisters’ fundraising events are to not only bring awareness of the agency’s volunteer needs, but more importantly the tremendous need to provide one-to-one mentoring programs that serves children in Allen, Barren and Warren counties. Each time Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs a child with a positive role model, they start something incredible: a relationship built on trust and friendship that can blossom into a future of unlimited potential. These professionally supported mentoring programs would not be possible without the financial success of the agency’s fundraising events like Spirits at the Depot, Bike For Kids’ Sake, Taste of Christmas, Holiday Bash and of course Bowl For Kids’ Sake.
As the nation’s leading mentoring organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. The “Big” and “Little” matches participate in activities either at school or throughout the community. Big Brothers Big Sisters is proven to increase children’s odds of succeeding in school, behaving nonviolently, avoiding drugs and alcohol, and breaking negative cycles.
