UPDATE: Suspect Turns Himself In To End Bowling Green Stand Off

BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) UPDATE 7:45 pm -- After more than five hours of police surrounding a house with assault rifles, a stand off in Bowling Green ends peacefully. Partially because the suspect wasn't in the home.

Bowling Green Police said they got a call around 11:00 Monday morning alleging that a suspect got into a fight with a woman outside a home on 11th street. Police said when witnesses tried to intervene they claim the man pulled a weapon and went inside the house.

Sources confirmed to WBKO the suspect was Jeremy Thompson.

Police surrounded the scene with their critical response team shortly after getting the call. During the fifth hour of the stand-off, Thompson's lawyer contacted WBKO to say his client was going to turn himself in. Thompson's lawyer said he was nowhere near the scene all day.

"It's my understanding that they kicked the door down and they were in the home. They've been over there talking through microphones and using robots. It appears there was no one in the home," said attorney Travis Lock.

When asked if allegations of a fight involving Thompson were true Lock replied, "I do not. I do not have any knowledge of that. That information has not been shared with me."

BGPD says Thompson may have left the scene between the time of the call and the time they arrived, but they're certain no one left the home while they had it surrounded.

Thompson wasn't arrested but the investigation is ongoing.
