JULIA RICH has performed across the Americas and around the globe: from Iceland to Brazil, from the Hollywood Bowl to Lincoln Center, from the World’s Fair in Seville to Orchard Hall in Tokyo.
The Symphony’s Annual Fundraising event is coming up on Saturday, February 23, 2013, 6:00 PM at The Knicely Conference Center. The signature event for The Symphony at WKU, The Soirée raises funds to support the educational programs offered by The Symphony in the Bowling Green/Warren County community.
This year’s event will feature an elegant dinner dance to the band, “Julia Rich and the Celebrity Combo”. JULIA RICH has performed across the Americas and around the globe: from Iceland to Brazil, from the Hollywood Bowl to Lincoln Center, from the World’s Fair in Seville to Orchard Hall in Tokyo. She appears on several Glenn Miller Orchestra recordings and videos and boasts six solo albums on the Cardinal label. Julia’s renditions of both standards and original songs can be heard on radio and as a regular feature on TV’s Music Choice: Singers and Swing alongside such greats as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble and Diana Krall.
Julia specializes in the American Songbook spiced with a bit of Vintage Pop. Her band, the CELEBRITY COMBO, is a swinging group of players who have worked closely with many stars of the music business and are well known and respected as individual artists. Julia made a special recording of, “Baby it’s Cold Outside” for this event.
A silent auction will include a sampling of our “Parties of Note” which we began in 2011. Parties will include: a Fashion Show at 440 Main Restaurant featuring the new Lilly Pulitzer store, “Pink Daisy” that will be opening in downtown Bowling Green, and “Let’s Face the Music and Dance” which includes a two hour ball room dance lesson by local dance instructor, Kathy Leonard of Dance Images and if dancing is not your thing how about an elegant dinner at Home Café and Marketplace where Chef, Josh Polling will demonstrate local produce in, “Farm to Table”.
Reservations are required for this event and seats may be reserved by calling (270)745-7681 or online at www.TheSymphonyatWKU.org.
