Tenn. SWAT in Standoff with Fla. Homicide Suspect

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities in Tennessee say they believe a man involved in a standoff with SWAT members at a motel is a suspect in a triple homicide in Florida.

Polk County, Florida, Sheriff Grady Judd says three bodies were found inside a house in Lakeland late Monday by a 14-year-old girl who arrived home from a weekend ROTC event. The deceased included the girl's mother. Another woman and a man were also killed. Officials have not yet publicly identified them.

Judd says the suspect, 27-year-old David E. Smith, calls himself "Prince David" and is delusional.

Knox County Sheriff's Assistant Chief Deputy Eddie Biggs told the Knoxville News Sentinel they believe Smith is the person holed up at a Days Inn where SWAT members are assembled.
