WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (AP) -- A Tennessee woman who died in a car crash in Kentucky was wanted in Anderson County for multiple counts of burglary and theft.
WVLT-TV reports (http://bit.ly/M6ZsCF) Shannon Leffew was a suspect in a scam in which victims responded to a fake advertisement for a rental home and left deposits with a person claiming to be the owner.
According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Department, Leffew had fled on foot from Cocke County deputies on Tuesday evening.
On Thursday morning, she was a passenger in a car in Whitely Co., Kentucky, when the driver lost control and hit a truck parked in the emergency lane.
According to Kentucky State Police, Leffew, the driver and two other passengers were taken to the hospital where Leffew was pronounced dead a short time later.
