The Medical Center Recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and The Medical Center is reminding Bowling Green of that in a big way.

Pink ribbons are sure to pop up all over town, and none larger than the one on The Medical Center's back lawn. One radiologist says those ribbons are a constant reminder of the importance of mammograms.

"Mammograms are our best tool in the early detection of breast cancer. A woman's chance of developing breast cancer is one in eight in their lifetime, so the early detection gives us the best chance of successful treatment and to save lives," said Imaging Consultants of Kentucky Radiologist Brian Wallace.

Western Kentucky Diagnostic Imaging encourages women to have regularly scheduled mammograms, and those who get mammograms next month will receive a breast cancer awareness t-shirt.
