The Psychology Behind Children Who Have Been Molested

While getting the truth in the human trafficking case is important, the effect on the child who has been molested could be life-changing.

We sat down with a psychologist to find out what children go through, after being molested.

Dr. Bill Pfohl says this is a case that could affect a child for the rest of his or her life.

"The harm for a young child would be what we would label Post-Tramatic Stress Disorder where kids could have problems with nightmares or problems with flashbacks or being able to remember what happened," says Dr. Pfohl.

Dr. Pfohl says Post-Tramatic Stress Disorder can cause significant psychological damage later in life, resulting in anxiety, depression and in extreme cases, suicide.
